In the fall of 1995, Miss Texas Carly Jarmon visited UT Southwestern's Transplant Services Center and is seen looking at samples provided by the director Ellen Heck.
Miss Texas Carly Jarmon visited UT Southwestern's Transplant Services Center at the invitation of Linda Humphries, the education coordinator for the Center, and Ellen Heck, the director of transplant services at UT Southwestern. Jarmon's chosen pageant platform was organ and tissue donation. As part of her advocacy on this subject in 1994-1995, Jarmon spoke about transplantation to science classes in nearly every elementary school in Oak Cliff, the Dallas community she represented in the state pageant.
