Dr. Rigo Santos with a team of medical personnel in Parkland's Ultra Sound Department. The Dallas Zoo requested an examination of three rare snakes using ultrasound equipment to visualize the internal anatomy and to confirm a possible pregnancy.

Dr. Rigo Santos, was an associate professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 1983. The technique that the zoo curators asked Dr. Santos to attempt had been pioneered by the Toledo Zoo. The plastic glove in the photograph was filled with saline and used with the sonogram transducer in order to produce clearer images.
